Who We Are

The Canadian Croatian Choral Society (CCCS) is comprised of fifty enthusiastic choristers drawn together by a love of Croatia’s rich musical heritage. Our members range in age from twenty-nine to eighty and drive in from the Greater Toronto Area and the Niagara Peninsula for weekly practices.

Our History

Established in January, 2013 under the artistic direction of renowned musician and educator Edward Joseph Mavrinac, the Canadian Croatian Choral Society has brought together a dynamic membership and captured the attention of the Croatian community throughout North America and abroad.

Our Passion

The members of the CCCS share a love for Croatia’s diverse choral heritage and the passion to share it with others. As such, we have participated in fourteen performances over the past two years ranging from our formal annual concerts to festivals and informal shows at retirement facilities throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

Our Mission

Our mission is to foster a vibrant and enthusiastic choral community of all ages and cultural backgrounds to allow members to grow artistically and spiritually by their continuous commitment to choir activities. To leave a legacy of love for Croatian music by encouraging and developing a future generation of choristers.

Upcoming Events

The CCCS season begins every September. We practice once a week in preparation for our annual concert series each spring and are privileged to perform at a variety of events throughout the year.  Foremost among these are ongoing concerts at retirement and nursing homes, where the power of song is proven to be ageless.

The CCCS has held concerts in North America and Europe and is available to perform for public or private functions.  A highlight of our season is our annual fundraising gala held in November which is a “must attend” event for all lovers of music. We look forward to seeing you in the future!

Community

Community is the main focus of the CCCS. In addition to bringing joy to its choristers, the CCCS is privileged to perform for the general public and residents of nursing and retirement homes. The CCCS encourages participation of budding musicians and engages this young talent to accompany the choir. One of the mandates of the CCCS is to provide an annual merit award to individuals studying music at a post-secondary institution, thereby supporting musical education within our community.

Reflecting its diverse membership, the choir performs Croatian, English, Latin, Greek and Italian songs and has garnered much attention from all Canadians. Community is the driving force and heartbeat of the Canadian Croatian Choral Society.
